We tapped into our deep-seated understanding of consumer behaviors and trends to formulate a methodology we named "Far Future Trends." Our approach mined data from a wide range of sources to identify emerging cultural shifts and their potential impact on current consumer categories and in the emergence of entirely new categories. The methodology also incorporated the organization's existing technological capabilities and brand equities, determining which could be leveraged to address future needs, and highlighting areas where new capabilities or brands would be needed.

We identified 50 sociocultural trend shifts likely to shape the consumer landscape beyond the next five years and over 150 strategic opportunity areas, including potential challenges, solutions enablers, and strategic fit within the organization's existing capabilities and brand assets, providing the innovation group with a comprehensive, future-ready strategic roadmap.
