This week’s #tellthetruths video features a brand name that’s not exactly subtle.
Clever Brand Alert: Coma Inducer
Coma Inducer is a comforter brand that goes full tilt on humor—and in a sea of soft, safe-sounding bedding names, it stands out in all the right ways. Turns out, being a little outrageous can be a smart move when the category is a bit sleepy.

Hey guys, this is Rebeca with BrandTrue and this is a clever name alert. I’m just so taken by this brand. It’s a brand of comforters, you know, comforter for your bed, and the brand name is Coma Inducer. It’s definitely one of those mixed messages names in that it’s really kind of negative, but we all want to sleep better. I mean, almost everybody needs better sleep. And this idea that these things are so comfortable and so cozy, and you sleep like the dead, I think it’s actually a really clever name, Coma Inducer. And they just, they have fun with it.
They have really playful names of which my favorite is a comforter model that’s called Dam Boi He Thick, which is playing on a rap song name. I just think that it really creates a whole tone of voice and personality for the brand to be playful in this way. Sure, not everybody is going to like this. Some people are going to be put off by it, but you know, The Company Store and a lot of other companies are already out there selling these products. To make a niche for themselves, to create a wonderful connection with consumers, these guys have chosen to be quirky and funny and clever as hell. I love it. Let me know what you think. Thanks. Bye!
