TRANSCRIPT:

Hey guys, it’s Rebeca with BrandTrue and today I want to do another of my “Does This Name Suck?” videos, focusing on a brand that I love called 80 Acres. So I love the brand and I love their name. Two separate things. They’re a sustainable, really efficient, wonderful produce company and the reason they’re named 80 Acres is because they’re growing 80 acres worth of produce in the space of one acre. Actually, they think they’re even doing better now but at the time of founding it was 80. And I love what they’re doing. Let me tell you why I also love their name.

The first question we always ask ourselves is, is it a Transparent communication? And I give them a yes on this, not an enormous yes like some of the other ones because 80 acres it’s putting you in the right context that it’s agricultural but maybe not telling you a whole lot else. So, okay, that’s a good start.

Then the R, we ask ourselves if we’ve got the Really Reals, if we’re plugging into something authentically true about the brand with that name. And the answer is resoundingly yes there, because as I told you, where the name comes from. Just yes, yes, yes.

For Unique, I really like what they’ve done here. As I said, they’ve grounded it in the agricultural context by saying acres, but most other produce brands that I’m aware of say farm or garden or fresh in the name and they found a way to let you know where they’re coming from in a unique way. So I give them a yes on Unique.

And finally, Engaging. I mean, as if they weren’t doing enough good things with the name already with the first few. I love the actual word form. 80 acres has this internal rhyme in it that makes it fun to say. It doesn’t rhyme at the end of the word like a traditional rhyme, but the middle has the same sounds. It makes it just great, memorable, fun. So yes, yes, I love this brand. I love this name. I’d love to hear what you think. Let me know. Bye!
