Brands Can Change Course

TRANSCRIPT:

Hi, guys. It’s Rebeca with BrandTrue, and this is a funny little name game I want to play. I got thinking the other day… For some reason I was thinking about Everclear, and I thought, “Everclear? That’s like a name that instead of being an alcohol, it would have been better as an acne medication.” And then since I’m a namer… *lightbulb goes off* I started thinking about what else? What else has a brand name that could have been even better in a different category? And I guess I had acne on the brain. The next thing I thought of was Spotify. Also a zit treatment, you might say. Just had a little bit too much fun with that. The Gap could be for orthodontia, like a competitor to Invisalign. And LinkedIn, why not have it be jewelry? I think that might be better. And finally, Tide could have been bathing suits and other beach wear. So obviously, we’re just playing here. But if you have any examples, any ideas of a well-known brand name that could have been better as something else, let me know. Thanks. Bye!
